Job Description

The Quality Engineer II will play a principal role in the overall development, implementation, and maintenance of HRP’s Quality Management System primarily related to the Tifton facility.  This position will work closely with the Site Quality Manager as well as the leadership team of all business units, Operations, and Engineering to ensure HRP’s quality strategies are aligned with the company’s strategic and performance goals for all markets, and to ensure HRP’s key suppliers maintain the highest level of quality for applicable parts, components and sub-assemblies. The position will play a critical role in a team of quality professionals and will work closely with the Supply Chain team to establish supplier performance criteria, monitor supplier performance, and hold suppliers accountable for any quality issues.  This individual will possess a passion for the quality discipline and will work with cross-functional departments as needed to promote and evangelize HRP’s culture of quality to customers, prospects, and industry contacts.


Standard Job Description:

Under general supervision, facilitates quality improvements by developing methods and procedures to improve and maintain product quality standards.


Gathers and analyzes data to plan, coordinate, and report quality improvements. Troubleshoots quality problems. Participates in projects for production application. Conducts internal quality controls concerning particular areas or company products to ensure quality procedures and norms are met. Assists monitoring and recording inconsistencies with quality procedures and norms. Collaborates with more experienced engineers in preparing quality analyses and recommends necessary quality procedure changes. Prepares reports on rejected or defective products. 


Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires at least 5-years related experience.


Work involves the application of more complex engineering principles to develop methods and procedures to improve and maintain product quality standards. Competencies in SPC, Capability Studies, and Six Sigma. Strong ability to facilitate quality-process improvement across cross-functional teams.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and application of Quality Science methods, Quality systems, concepts, management, and planning tools
  • Familiarity with hardware/platform requirement management
  • High energy/self-starting team player who achieves goals and continuous improvement
  • Ability to generate, review, and/or implement policies, procedures, work instructions and test procedures
  • Demonstrated analytical skills in root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions
  • General knowledge of industry technical standards such as ISO9001
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for fostering collaboration, communications and giving presentations
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic, challenging and team-oriented environment
  • Keep up on standards, regulations/laws, issues and industry news with respect to HRP’s and competitors’ quality issues.
  • Working with Supply Chain, identify and implement methodologies to track and mitigate key supplier failure trends.
  • Ensure evaluation of and reporting on key supplier quality systems.
  • Monitor quality metrics for internal and external suppliers and product components and determine measurement and accountability strategies.
  • Oversee and approve quality standards for and inspection of applicable incoming supplier parts, components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with company and contractual quality requirements.
  • Drive quality improvement & “get-to-green” plans for applicable key performance indicators
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Point of Contact (POC) to internal and external customers for applicable key quality issues.
  • Perform senior-level strategic customer out-briefs as required.
  • Minimal travel expected


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, quality management or other related field from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years quality and/or manufacturing engineering experience in a global technology business environment.
  • Understanding and application of Quality Science methods
  • Previous experience in participating in 3rd party ISO 9001 audits
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated fluency in Microsoft Office suite, including Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI and/or Qlik
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated global responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for fostering collaboration, communications and giving presentations
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic, challenging and team-oriented environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • ASQ or Industry Certifications (e.g. CQE, CQA, CQIA, Greenbelt, Blackbelt)
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning
  • Quality Management System implementation experience
  • External Customer and end-user communications experience
