Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

 

As the Buyer, you are primarily responsible for the ongoing procurement of raw materials / components with approved suppliers that meet the quality standards of the company.   Assume full responsibility for planning requirements and supply chain management to ensure timely (scheduled) deliveries of goods and services within budget and/or standard costs. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Procures raw material and components necessary for the operation of the company.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor goods and services to meet the production requirements of the company employing such techniques but not limited to JIT, Kanban, Blanket POs, and Reschedules
  • Check requisitions and MRP requirements, execute exception messages for expedite, defer, and cancel.   Expedite orders with suppliers to meet production schedules.
  • Set-up and maintain material, supplier and planning system data in the MRP/ERP system.
  • Determine material requirements from Engineering and production schedules and coordinate the efficient movement of materials through production cycle.
  • Establish goals and objectives that support the department and company objectives. Follow up on objectives to ensure compliance.
  • Work with receiving, finance and suppliers to reconcile discrepancies in receiving and invoicing.
  • Support global sourcing partners and supplier relationship management initiatives.
  • Take on special assignments as warranted.
  • Reconcile and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections and losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.
  • Ensures products/services get delivered on time and meet the required standards.
  • Interpretation of demand and supply reports.
  • Proposal of ideas to the management team
  • Monitoring of stock
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Complete lifecycle management of assigned commodities

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Looking for a great team worker with excellent skills in organization, time management, confident communicator, excellent people skills and works well under pressure.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 1-year related experience.  
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills required. 
  • SAP experience strongly desired.
  • Intermediate knowledge in a wide range concepts and approaches including purchasing for lean manufacturing, Kanban and supplier development.
  • Requires above average analytical skills.
  • Shows excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires some knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control.
  • Competent in computerized procurement systems.
  • Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
