Job Description

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

 

As a  lead, the person in this position is responsible for sourcing the most technologically complex and expensive commodity or group of commodities, tools or parts.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Develop a global sourcing strategy for commodities, define project scopes and identify savings opportunities.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and relationships.
  • Implement policies and metrics to ensure savings goals are realized.
  • Work with technical buyers, engineers and management to identify new product needs.
  • Identify new sources in order to meet business requirements.
  • Serve as the primary interface between company components and suppliers on strategic/critical quality, engineering and procurement matters.
  • Develop and implement long- and short-range sourcing strategies for very complex and high-risk items.
  • Manage all aspects of commodity categories, ensuring we are receiving best in class services and maximizing discounts from the suppliers.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development of sourcing strategies for assigned sub-categories.
  • Performs opportunity analysis to identify projects that will deliver significant cost savings and value improvement, tracks and reports cost savings and avoidances.
  • Structure and negotiate supply agreements and manage supplier relations and performance.
  • Select, maintain, and manage a supplier base that is financially sound, technically competent, and strategically aligned. Ensure good supplier relations.
  • Develop communication strategy and other methods to communicate, inform, update and build buy-in for initiatives.
  • Continually evaluate all aspects of the assigned commodities, industry trends and available tools and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with sourcing policies and procedures, ethical practices, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • This position will be specifically responsible for the spend associated with assigned commodities. Ability to oversee transactional types of purchasing with Suppliers as needed. Understand how to monitor and expedite purchase transactions as needed.
  • Own, support, maintain, & analyze our current procure-to-pay processes and systems, recommend solutions, lead the implementations and user testing as the procurement business owner, and manage/report key procurement & business metrics.
  • Help identify, evaluate and implement procurement tools to add efficiency and automation to improve internal customer experience.
  • Work closely with key partners such as IT Managers, Interdepartmental Teams, Accounts Payable, etc. and the rest of the enterprise to advocate for and continuously improve the procurement cycle and streamline processes.
  • Develop, manage, automate and report key business metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement on our procurement process to improve collaboration and maximize efficiency across cross-functional teams to include automation and integrations.
  • Provide thought leadership and fresh perspectives on procurement and sourcing digitization.
  • Develop business relationships with internal partners with strong customer service focus and visibly demonstrate your dedication to improving processes.

Qualifications

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

 

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in business, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • CPSM/CPM certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years Strategic Sourcing and Procurement experience
  • Able to work independently with strong teamwork, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to simplify a complex, cross-functional process.
  • Able to influence, and present to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to extract insights and make improvement recommendations.
  • Have a passion for negotiations, procurement and automation.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 3-5 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of contract law, the RFQ process, supplier and part qualification processes, low cost country sourcing.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, analytical, planning, project management, written, and verbal skills.
  • Ability to lead a cross functional commodity team and work across the organization at all levels, and develop strategic commodity plans.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent experience
  • Ability to adjust your schedule for international calls
  • Strong analytical skills, organized, detail-oriented
  • Working knowledge of data management systems
  • Comprehensive understanding/use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Project management experience desired
  • Related certifications are a plus – CPIM, CSCP, Six Sigma, Lean, AES

The compensation range for this position is approximately $93,000 - $128,000 and will be based on the candidate’s qualification, experience, and education
