Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As the Cost Accountant, you will perform cost accounting tasks of a difficult nature requiring professional experience, knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

 

  • Responsible for conducting moderately complex cost audits and preparing and analyzing cost reports.
  • Maintain complex ledgers, reconcile and analyze specific cost account ledgers and prepares difficult journal entries.
  • Prepare a variety of reports to maintain and analyze the cost accounting system.
  • Ensure that costs are allocated properly.
  • Research and gather historical cost data to prepare reports and analysis on such activities as material purchase, labor, equipment, depreciation, repairs, operating expenses, overhead and the like.
  • Prepare a variety of reports to analyze unit costs and project future expenses.
  • Assist in the development and installation of new and revised cost accounting systems, procedures and controls.
  • Analyze various operating costs to determine variances and causes.
  • Review the preparation of various records and reports compiled by lower-level accounting personnel.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 1-year related experience.
  • Requires knowledge of cost control systems and related cost accounting functions and includes the preparation of strategic recommendations to management.
  • Requires knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Requires expertise in Microsoft Office.

The Compensation range for this position is approximately $57,000 - $100,000 and will be based on the candidate’s qualification, experience, and education.
