Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Responsible for overseeing the go to market strategy to achieve annual sales, margin, and market share gain goals for the category.  Also responsible for overseeing the development of multi-generational product technology and development plans and launching new products annually to achieve strategic product line vitality goals. In summary, responsible for directing the product lifecycle management of the portfolio of products.

  • Provides strategic direction for product lines consistent with overall company goals and objectives.
  • Identifies trends in the market, or competition, and evaluates or adjusts the product lines’ go to market or product development plans.
  • Plans and directs go to market strategies, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Oversees the preparation of presentations and training for product sales and customer support.
  • Directs and oversees the product lifecycle management including understanding market demands and cycles; customer and technology trends; and competitive trends and product offering.  
  • Responsible for directing the strategic muti-generational product technology and new product development roadmaps for the product line portfolio as well as annual new product development and launch plans.
  • Monitors price, margin, and market share achievement to plans, and relative to competitive actions, and collaborates with sales and marketing leadership to adjust promotions, programs, pricing, or merchandising as needed.
  • Responsible to lead and develop a team of product managers.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Requires at least 10 years related experience.
  • Expert in the financial and strategic aspects of product management.
  • Requires full understanding of approaches to assessing and improving the customer value proposition.
  • Must be able to creatively apply extensive marketing knowledge including branding, product life-cycle, competitive positioning and communications.
  • Expert in analysis and decisions regarding the most complex or high impact aspects of product and brand marketing.
  • Excellent leadership abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.

Professional Experience Desired:

Prior experience with a HVAC product manufacturer or similar industry required.  Additionally, prior functional experience in sales, engineering, marketing, category management, or product management required.

 

Demonstrated Job Skills from Professional Experience:

Prior experience managing a product line’s lifecycle. Prior experience selling, marketing, and developing new products. Prior experience managing a product line portfolio to achieve sales, margin, and market share goals. Product development or marketing of residential HVAC products preferred.

 

Demonstrated Competencies from Professional Experience:

Proven ability to build and lead highly effective, cross functional teams that drive results.  Ability to effectively develop and communicate a strategic vision and purpose for a new idea or objective both to management and the team. Ability to manage complexity and conflict within the team, and cross functionally, to make quality decisions.  Ability to situationally adapt style and approach to create buy-in, followership, and drive results in a positive manner. Ability to grow and develop talent on a team.
