Job Description

Objective of Position

Senior Operations Managers are responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures for a business. Senior Operations Managers mange, motivate, and inspire teams of employees. They provide direction and goals for process, equipment, efficiencies, and output.

Senior Operations Managers communicate regularly with other senior leaders on performance, operations, and key initiatives. They lead continuous improvement initiatives and participate in financial planning and budget management.

Job Description 

  • Responsible for manufacturing policies, forecasting employees needed to operate and facility requirements.
  • Maintains inventory controls, developing production time and quality standards, construction, manufacturing technology, safety, and environmental aspects of the manufacturing function.
  • Responsible for the effective operation of the manufacturing functions in order to produce high quality, low cost products on a timely basis
  • Responsible for formulating manufacturing policies, forecasting manpower and facility requirements, maintaining inventory controls, developing production time and quality standards, construction, manufacturing technology, safety, and environmental aspects.
  • Responsible for engineering and technical requirements of production operations. This includes tooling, manufacturing engineering, production sequence, material routings, the solution to critical manufacturing engineering problems, the analysis of methods to reduce operating time and cost, and optimizing product design for purposes of manufacture.
  • Interacts with, assist, and support engineering design group to design, develop, launch and sustain the most cost effective and efficient equipment available.
  • Develops, reviews recommendations, and tracks progress of major capital expenditures and departmental operational budgets.

Standard Work Areas & Process                               

  • Close partner with General Plant Manager and the plant leadership team
  • Key contributor to creating and executing the factory business plan
  • Manages the hiring, direction, assessment and development of operations.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

  • Able to motivate and lead teams to achieve goals.
  • Champion the Commercial culture, driving an environment of accountability, open communication, and high ethical standards.
  • Support the Vision and Mission statement of the Commercial business segment.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills that result in effective communications.
  • Exceptional presentation skills to senior executives.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 8 years related experience. Requires at least 3 years’ experience as a manager.
  • Knows best practices and procedures for managing manufacturing facilities.
  • Requires excellent leadership and team building skills.
  • Knowledgeable about fiscal control, budget forecasting, standardized metrics and achievement in performance to plan.
  • Excellent decision making and creative problem-solving skills.
  • A steady performer under pressure. Requires computer literacy in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Requires expertise in customer service.
  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires strong knowledge of and commitment to Continuous Improvement.
