The person in this position is responsible for sourcing the most technologically complex and expensive commodity or group of commodities, tools or parts. This includes developing and implementing long- and short-range sourcing strategies for very complex and high-risk items.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Develop a global sourcing strategy for commodities, define project scopes and identify savings opportunities.
• Negotiate and manage contracts and relationships with vendors.
• Implement policies and metrics to ensure savings goals are realized.
• Work with technical buyers, engineers and management to identify new product needs.
• Identify new sources in order to meet business requirements.
• Serve as the primary interface between company components and suppliers on strategic/critical quality, engineering and procurement matters.

Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A master's degree or equivalent is preferred. Requires at least 10 years related experience.

Broad knowledge of contract law, the RFQ process, supplier and part qualification processes, low cost country sourcing. Expert negotiation, presentation, analytical, planning, project management, written, and verbal skills. Ability to lead a cross functional commodity team and work across the organization at all levels, and develop strategic commodity plans.
