Heatcraft products are primarily used to preserve food and other perishables in supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, warehouses and distribution centers, in addition to other applications such as data centers, pharmaceutical and industrial process cooling.

 

Job Description

Location: Stone Mountain, GA (Monday through Thursday in the office with the option to work at home on Friday)

 

As the Lead Refrigeration Engineer, you will develop and validate new technologies for Heatcraft Refrigeration, commercial and industrial refrigeration. Tasks include thermodynamic and economic analysis, equipment selection, schematic development, detailed investigations, design of experiments, project management, reporting, supervising prototype systems, providing technical training, supporting customer requirements, aiding marketing efforts, and contributing to the innovation process. This position is on the Advanced technology team utilizing the-state-of-the-art technology with natural and low GWP refrigerants to provide creative and innovative solutions for the business.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Develop and verify new technologies for commercial and Industrial refrigeration. 
  • Perform thermodynamic, energy, and economic analysis of proposed components and systems. 
  • Select and size the equipment and devices for experimental and prototype facilities. 
  • Develop piping, electrical, and structural schematics for the construction or modification of new or existing tests. 
  • Perform detailed investigations of refrigeration systems and components. 
  • Perform comprehensive design of experiments and test matrices. 
  • Analyze, evaluate, and interpret experimental data. 
  • Project manage the overall testing process for specific technologies as assigned.
  • Summarize experimental results in reports and presentations. 
  • Supervise the fabrication, installation and assist with the start-up of prototype systems in the field.
  • Provide technical training to mechanical, design and production, and Sale Engineers.
  • Support industrial and special customer requirement jobs.
  • Support Marketing new technology strategy development.
  • Contribute to innovation process with new ideas and provide incentive to others in the generation of Intellectual Property.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1-3 years of experience is desired.
  • PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or Thermal science desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with controls a plus.
  • Prior technical development experience with CO2 based systems desirable.

 

Must also have the following demonstrated knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent oral, written, communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Experience with refrigeration system analytical and CAD software.
  • Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools, and processes involved in project of precision technical plans.
  • Must have a great attitude and an open mindset to learn and grow into the role.

 

The Compensation range for this position is approximately $110,000 - $145,000 and will be based on the candidate’s qualification, experience, and education.
