Heatcraft products are primarily used to preserve food and other perishables in supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, warehouses and distribution centers, in addition to other applications such as data centers, pharmaceutical and industrial process cooling.

Job Description

Location: Tifton, GA  or Stone Mountain, GA (Hybrid-Monday through Thursday in the office with the option to work at home on Friday)

 

As the Material Cost Reduction Engineer, you will be responsible for Generating cost reduction projects, evaluating, and implementing the ideas and work closely with the sourcing team.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop engineering/sourcing strategy for commodities, defines project scopes and identifies savings opportunities.
  • Prepare the business case for the cost out projects.
  • Prepare alternate design concept models and drawings.
  • Responsible for design development and implementation of ideas considering cost, manufacturability, serviceability, regulatory compliance, code requirements & safety.
  • Perform DFMEA, DFMA as required.
  • Implement policies and metrics to ensure that savings goals are realized.
  • Work with technical engineers, manufacturing/production and management to identify new ideas generated.
  • Serve as a primary interface between company components and suppliers on strategic/critical quality, engineering and procurement matters.
  • Develop and implements long and short-range engineering/sourcing strategies for very complex and high-risk items.
  • Drive Product Qualification, Testing

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 6 years related experience.
  • Experience in Value Analysis and Value Engineering and applying VE Methodology (SAVE Certification added advantage)
  • Execute / Conduct Teardown Analysis and Benchmarking activities and Generate cost take out opportunities.
  • Experience in Should Costing, Cost Estimation during NPD and any Costing Tool.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing processes
  • Ability to conduct Brainstorming, Design and Deliver Concept Designs
  • Expertise in DFMEA, Design Approach / Tools
  • Knowledge in (PLM) and CAD software’s are added advantage.
  • Knowledge in SAP / BI Tools
  • Refrigeration industry knowledge is added advantage

 

The Compensation range for this position is approximately $93,000 - $121,000 and will be based on the candidate’s qualification, experience, and education.
