Job Description

You will be part of a dynamic EHS & Sustainability team that ensures drive our EHS & Sustainability program.  As a member of the corporate team, you will be responsible for providing support of the Environmental Health and Safety & Sustainability functions across the Company, help teams implement processes that identify and reduce injury risks and improve safety behaviors, environmental compliance and promote sustainability targets with energy, water, recycling and refrigerant management.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

 

  • Function as subject matter expert on occupational health, safety, environmental & sustainability programs such as air, water, waste, and refrigerant management.
    • Assist operations-facilities with projects: identify opportunities, build projects, get funding and support execution.
  • Assist manufacturing sites in the implementation of safety and ergonomic initiatives risks from cuts & lacerations, machine safeguarding, powered industrial trucks, ergonomic risks, etc.
  • Develop safety & sustainability projects. to support operations in Business plans development and execution of investments and project to accomplish EHS and Sustainability targets.
    • Develop training programs to EHS & Sustainability leaders at the operations.
    • Identify opportunities for risk identification, risk mitigation, emergency response, contractor management systems.
    • Develop initiatives to improve in occupational health and safety elements: machine safeguarding, ergonomics, power industrial trucks, safety procedures and incident investigation, etc.
    • Identify opportunities for energy saving, water saving, waste and emission reductions.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to building sustainability programs.
    • Track progress and participate in development of long-term decarbonization roadmap.
    • Utilize experience in purchasing renewable energy projects, credits, or virtual biogas and power purchase agreements a plus.
  • Demonstrate expertise with Federal, state, and local safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations, permitting and recordkeeping requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and workplace safety and health regulations.
    • Work closely and proactively with manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.
    • Familiar with EPA: Clean Air Act, Title V, NESHAP, air emissions calculations, Clean Water Act, NPDES, EPCRA, SPCC, RCRA and hazardous waste management.
  • Assist manufacturing facilities with reporting by preparing EHS and Sustainability annual submissions including but not limited to EHS, OSHA, EPCRA Tier II, TRI Form R, GHG Reporting, and other requirements listed in permits.
    • Create back-up documentation for regulatory specific environmental compliance reporting.
    • Assist in development of electronic records standard and filing for record retention.
  • Lead/participate in EHS audits.
    • Input audit findings in the internal system, assign action items to the appropriate personnel, support sites to resolve issues and track status to closure.
  • Manage data & analytics in various systems.
    • Work with internal and external stakeholders to obtain, manage, and audit Safety, environmental-related data (including electricity, fuel, waste) using multiple systems (Schneider Resource Advisor, Waste Management, INTELEX, etc.).
    • Generate reports to demonstrate progress; assist in GHG reporting/carbon accounting.

 

Qualifications

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemical, sustainability, EHS, Safety, environmental science, or related technical engineering degree.
  • At least – 7-10 years of work experience in EHS and sustainability field, preferably in a manufacturing sector.
  • Operations, manufacturing & logistics experience to manage multiple priorities within the business plan and across the supply chain.
  • Must have strong project management skills and the ability to work as project leader and exercise sound judgment to carry out project-oriented work.
  • Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and develop analytical skills to identify opportunities, simplify problems and find root cause elements.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA & EPA standards and regulations on a regional and national level.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to quickly learn new technology/software to pull data and create Power BI reports.
  • Digital mindset and system-oriented person in other to transform the business into systems and processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions to all levels within the company. Able to communicate complex and technical information in a way that audiences can quickly understand the issues and opportunities.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with peers and build and maintain teams engage.
  • Ability to perform duties with judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • The position will require limited travel – up to 40 % at times.

The compensation range for this position is approximately $118,000 - $155,000 and will be based on the candidate’s qualification, experience, and education
