Job Description

Under general direction, perform general preventative maintenance and simple repairs on manufacturing machines and mechanical equipment.

  • Performs maintenance service and repairs. Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. Inspects drives, motors, and belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, or performs other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Inspects, operates, and tests machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Provides work leadership for lower level maintenance mechanics through assignment of work.
  • Provides technical guidance and review of assignment progress. May involve repair of electrical systems.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires 3-5 years related experience. May require technical diploma or equivalent.

Expert knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Expert knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other structures. Expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, blueprints, drawings, and models. Strong ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. May require some electrical knowledge. Must be able move items weighing up to 50 lbs. Able to provide training and work leadership.
