Job Description

Under direct supervision, assists in inspecting work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.

  • Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining safety equipment supply and availability.Samples and analyzes for possible exposure to hazards such as chemicals, smoke, fumes, gases, vapors, noise and lighting.
  • Assists in applying safety policies and procedures and in employee safety training.
  • Maintains assigned files and records including material safety data sheets and other paperwork ensuring compliance.
  • May assist with aspects of hazardous material programs, assuring all hazardous materials are received, handled, shipped, stored, labeled and disposed of in accordance with company and government regulations.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A two year degree or equivalent is preferred.

Requires foundational understanding and ability to train others in company, state and federal safety policies and regulations. Developing ability to train others in correct use of safety equipment. Must have developing skills in the operation of a variety of lab equipment, generators, pumps, gauges, and other common tools. Must have developing ability to perform control calculations. Must be able to produce quality, accurate work. Must be able to detect and correct errors. Requires effective written and verbal communication.
