JOB TITLE:        Electrical Controls Engineer

LOCATION:        Carrollton, TX

DUTIES:  

• Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial purposes.
• Prepare and study technical drawings, electrical system specifications and topographical maps.
• Use computer-assisted engineering, design software and equipment to perform assignments.
• Responsible for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and instrumentation design, configuration and application development in programming languages including ladder logic design, functional block diagrams and structured text.
• Integrate test systems interface circuitry with various levels of electrical and software complexities.
• Responsible for Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control logic and control systems, patching, application deployment, system installations, and other routine maintenance.
• Design and draft diagrams of cable connections, illustrations and installation procedures, and maintenance details.
• Integrate HVAC industry standards ASHRAE, DOE, AGA, and ISA testing standards/protocols/practices into existing processes.
• Use appropriate tools to identify and resolve technical problems.
• Work with engineers and technicians to roll out testing requirements for new products and services.
• Responsible for documenting initiatives for existing systems and ongoing processes to support new projects.
• Participate in special studies, projects efforts and formal proposals.
• Assist with hardware and vendor selections.
• Evaluate current testing methods and maintain ongoing searches for new and efficient methods used to stay abreast of technological advances.
• Perform complex engineering including manufacturing planning and the installation, operation, maintenance of electrical apparatus in product development or operations.
• Manage computers in TCP/IP network and identify security features and issues.
• Modify and write programming tools and languages using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Functional Block Diagrams.
• Develop test systems and applications.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or as an Electronic Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer or in a related/similar position.
• Experience therein to include 8 years performing complex engineering including manufacturing planning and the installation, operation, maintenance of electrical apparatus in product development or operations;
• 3 years of experience in the following:
  • using ladder logic design or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming;
  • managing computers in TCP/IP network and identifying security features and issues;
  • working with Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control logic and control systems;
  • modifying and writing programming tools and languages using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Functional Block Diagrams;
  • developing test systems and applications.
