Job Description

The HVAC Lab Technician supports the testing and validation of HVAC systems and components in a hands-on laboratory environment. This role involves executing test plans, maintaining lab equipment, and applying electrical and mechanical skills to ensure accurate and reliable results. Technicians are expected to follow established procedures and safety protocols while contributing to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, leadership, and quality support across lab, factory, and field operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate HVAC test equipment and instrumentation according to documented procedures.
  • Conduct performance, reliability, and safety tests on HVAC units and components.
  • Apply basic electrical troubleshooting and wiring skills to support test setups and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of lab instruments, sensors, and test benches.
  • Record, analyze, and report test data accurately and in compliance with lab standards.
  • Follow all lab procedures, safety guidelines, and quality protocols without deviation.
  • Assist in diagnosing issues with units under test and lab systems.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in lab processes and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure test integrity and product validation.
  • Support quality efforts by providing technical feedback and data to factory and field teams to improve product performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in HVAC testing, electrical troubleshooting, or technical maintenance work.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and test procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, data acquisition software, etc.).
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as needed (up to 50 lbs).

What We Offer

Compensation: This is a salaried non-exempt role. This means that employees are paid a salary and also receive overtime pay when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).  The starting salary range for this role and market is between $50,000 - $62,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Employees in this role are also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company’s applicable plan.
