We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Technology Group, focusing on the commercial HVAC segment. This role involves developing and validating next-generation HVACR technologies with a focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance.

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about emerging technologies, system-level design, and solving complex thermal and mechanical challenges.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  • Lead and support the mechanical design, analysis, and prototyping of advanced HVACR components and systems (e.g., compressors, heat exchangers, fans, enclosures).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (controls, electrical, materials, software) to develop integrated solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, concept development, and performance simulations (CFD, FEA, thermodynamic models).
  • Evaluate new materials, design approaches, and processes to enhance product performance and manufacturability.
  • Develop and execute test plans for lab validation and performance characterization.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design for manufacturability (DFM), and risk assessment (FMEA).
  • Work closely with external research institutions, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to drive innovation.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes (e.g., low-GWP refrigerants, DOE standards).
  • Document technical work through reports, specifications, and intellectual property (patents, invention disclosures).

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with scientific programming (example: Python, VBA, EES, MATLAB, or C++).
  • Familiarity with HVACR system architecture and components.
  • Strong foundation in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, lab testing, and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Effective communication and technical writing skills.

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.
  • Previous work experience in HVACR, thermal systems, or product development in a related industry.
  • Knowledge of low-GWP refrigerants, decarbonization strategies, and energy codes.
  • Patents or publications in relevant technical areas.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. We are open to hiring at different levels for this position (ME I - ME IV) depending on experience and skillset resulting in a wide compensation range. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $75,000 - $145,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for the BroadBase Incentive (BBI) program with a target payout of 2%. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.

 

Location and Schedule: This position is located in Carrollton, TX and will be in the office Monday through Friday.
