Component Engineers at Lennox are responsible for evaluating individual component parts of HVAC&R equipment both on an individual basis and within the system. You will evaluate parts to ensure they meet safety, performance, and reliability requirements per LII standards. You will have the opportunity to develop test plans and specifications as well as contribute to the formation of engineering process documents and DFMEAs. You will work with global cross-functional teams to accomplish these tasks. Additionally, you will manage your own projects from initial concept through production.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  • Review part drawings and ensure they are up to date and ensure they are understood and followed by suppliers.
  • Review part application(s) to ensure that CTQ (Critical To Quality) features are captured and ensure part specs align with the application.
  • Create and execute DVPs (Design Validation Plan) on components and subsystems.
  • Manage projects from start to finish as part of a global cross-functional team.
    • You will coordinate with global cross-functional teams including but not limited to:
      • Suppliers
      • Manufacturing
      • Platform (Design engineers)
      • Quality
      • Sourcing
  • Prioritize projects and their sub tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare concise test reports/documentation
  • Prepare and present project status to an Independent Design Review board (a stage gate process).
  • Develop and review DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
  • Assist with reviewing change requests from suppliers/platform engineering.
  • Assist supplier development engineers with critical attribute definitions, etc. as needed.
  • Participate in evaluation of new technologies and design for value analyses.
  • Assist in engineering process development.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

 

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with an understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Capable project leader.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking ability.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter with a “can-do” attitude.
    • Bring your curiosity and a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and electro-mechanical principles, preferred.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, preferred.
  • Willing to travel ~5-10%
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $78,000 - $90,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for the BroadBase Incentive (BBI) program with a target payout of 2%. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.

 

Location and Schedule: This position is located in Carrollton, TX and will be in the office Monday through Friday.
