What Drives Success

As a senior manager, the person in this position leads the transportation department to ensure that cost-effective systems, transportation costs, equipment, and services meet company objectives. This manager is responsible for the effective operation of the company’s transportation network and will provide expert leadership to the department through commercial distribution managers.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Set the strategic direction for transportation.
  • Ensure alignment between third-party partners and distribution centers to fulfill customer needs.
  • Provide direction and expertise on implementing cost-effective systems that meet the company's requirements.
  • Develop and ensure the implementation of policies and procedures covering rate negotiation and purchase of transportation, freight bill auditing and overcharge claims, fleet management, and optimum traffic routes.
  • Ensure the unit is in compliance with tariff rules, ICC regulations, and federal and state transportation laws.

What We Are Looking For

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 8 years of related experience.
  • Requires at least 3 years of experience as a manager.
    Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Expert knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Knows industry and regulatory trends.
  • Requires excellent negotiation skills.
  • Must know how to use Transportation Management Systems to optimize transportation networks.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Requires knowledge and understanding of the practical impact of import and export regulations in a wide range of countries.
  • Provides expert leadership to the department through subordinate managers.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $87,200 to $114,450 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company’s applicable plan. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.

Depending on date of hire, and subject to applicable eligibility requirements, new employees in this role also receive up to: 12 days paid time off, 2 paid well-being days, 1 paid volunteer day, 12 paid holidays, and 3 floating holidays per year.
