The Advanced Technology team within Lennox works at the nexus of smart equipment, smart algorithms, and next-generation tools including equipment & building digital twins to make our equipment efficient, reliable, and ready for the grid.

We are currently seeking an HVAC System Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our Advanced Technology team. As part of this role, you will work on HVAC equipment related software development which addresses all aspect of equipment life-cycle – from designing, testing, ratings, to field operations. You will liaison with software developers, product/controls/data engineers, and R&D teams to develop and deploy smart tools. The person in this position will lead the system modeling group and set the technical direction.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  • Lead efforts to enhance the existing simulation platform by modularizing and adding transients to support new product and technology development projects.
  • Conduct physics-based thermodynamic modeling, and analysis of refrigeration systems and components.
  • Develop hybrid or data driven component models as needed to support model-based design, testing, and field operation.
  • Lead projects technically, and coordinate the efforts of software development team and users.

What We Are Looking For

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or higher (PhD preferred) with a focus on thermal sciences.
  • 5+ years’ of relevant experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience in modeling, analysis and testing of HVAC&R components and systems, such as condensers, evaporators, and compressors.
  • Experience with numerical methods and software engineering methods for developinuser-facing tools.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python, C++ ; Proficiency in any of the newer simulation environments - MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, Julia, etc.
  • Knowledge of building simulations and data analytics/AI/ML methods (nice to have).
  • Willingness and ability to work with cross-functional, global teams and drive results.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Be able to work on multiple projects and prioritize tasks; Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be a proven self-starter with the capability to work independently under the general management direction.
  • Motivation to work on novel/difficult problems with a flair for creative problem solving.

What We Offer

Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $94,000 - $118,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for the BroadBase Incentive (BBI) program with a target payout of 2%. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.

 

Location and Schedule: This position is located in Carrollton, TX and will be in the office Monday through Friday.
