What Drives Success

Under general supervision, Buyer II is responsible for independently selecting and negotiating with approved vendors, placing purchase orders, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services in support of business operations. This role requires strong negotiation and analytical skills, as well as knowledge of lean manufacturing practices, supplier development, and quality standards. The Buyer II works with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and the accounting department to resolve issues and support production schedules. 

 

  • Evaluate bids, select and recommend suppliers, and negotiate price, quality, delivery, and service terms 
  • Review significant or complex bids with supervisor before finalizing awards 
  • Expedite orders with suppliers to meet production schedules and resolve delays 
  • Negotiate and settle disputes with suppliers on damage claims, rejections, returns, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes 
  • Conduct supplier site visits and assess performance, production capability, and delivery reliability 
  • Compile and analyze statistical data to support purchasing strategies and supplier negotiations 
  • Collaborate with Accounting to resolve invoice and payment discrepancies 
  • Support lean purchasing initiatives, including Kanban systems and supplier development programs 

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • At least 1 year of related purchasing experience 
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Intermediate knowledge of purchasing practices for lean manufacturing, Kanban, and supplier development 
  • Some knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control 
  • Competence in computerized procurement systems 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (intermediate to advanced) 
  • MS Access experience a plus 

What We Offer

Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $65,000 - $85,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company’s applicable plan. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.
